Favorite Bible Verse:  “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Mathew 6:33

Significant Life experiences that led me to HLCS: My name is Jessica Paule and we have been blessed to be a part of the HLCS family since 2004.  The Lord led us to Harbor Light after moving here from Alaska. He continues to open doors and has provided many opportunities for us here.  My husband Joel and I have two wonderful children Khalil and Khailani who have attended Harbor Light since they were in preschool.

I love HLCS because…Currently I am teaching preschool and work as an elementary aide as well.   My husband and I have also had the opportunity to coach JH BBALL.  We were truly blessed with this opportunity and always had a lot of fun.  This is one of the reasons why I love HLCS.  The more time we spend at school the more it feels like family.  We are blessed to be in a place with a family atmosphere and where we can speak God’s words of wisdom and encouragement to each other.

Activities & hobbies I enjoy: We love spending time together as a family, whatever adventure that might be.

Favorite Bible Verse:  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3: 5-6

Significant Life Experiences That Led Me to HLCS:  After graduation from Taylor University, I desired to go full time into mission work.  I just didn’t know when or where. God opened up the door to teach at HLCS in 1985 and I found my mission field in a small Christian School in Northern Michigan and have been here since.   I was the first teacher hired!

I Love HLCS because…  It is a great place for students to learn and grow in a safe and nurturing Christian environment.  As a parent, I saw my own three children become confident young people of God, willing and ready to serve.  HLCS had a lot to do with just that!

Activities & hobbies I enjoy:  I love volleyball – coached it for 24 years. I enjoy watching all kinds of other sports – especially the ones my children participate in.   I like to walk in God’s beautiful creation as well as get exercise.  I really like to make things – crafts, gifts, etc.
And, the most favorite thing that I enjoy doing is spending time with my husband and family.

Favorite Bible Verse: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31

Significant Life Experiences that have led me to HLCS: I grew up as a pastor’s kid and attended a Christian school myself.  A good biblical foundation is so important in life.  I was able to stand firm when I attended a public school and went “into the world”.  I enjoy laying the same firm foundation in my students.  I want them to trust in the Lord no matter what they may face in their life.

I Love HLCS because… we are a family.  Parents, children and teachers form a community of believers that pray and encourage each other.  My first and second graders pray for the high school kids, teachers, and other parents, just as often as they pray for each other.

Activities & hobbies I enjoy: I enjoy scrapbooking.  Each year I make a book for every child of what we did in first and second grade.  I love to read and delight in sharing my favorite picture books with my class.

Favorite Bible Verse: My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11 which says, “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future.”  I believe that my days as a student here prepared in me a love for this school which grows stronger each day.  His plan for my future to return here as a teacher was one He cultivated in my heart.  I will be forever grateful to the Lord for this school and what it has done for me and my children. My prayer is that each day I teach I might have a chance to help my students as they grow, prosper, and seek the Lord’s will for their futures.

Significant life experiences that led me to HLCS: HLCS has been my home forever.  I started at HLCS as a student in sixth grade and continued all the way through graduation.  During my time here and through my interactions with my teachers, I developed a love for teaching and children.  After studying at Taylor University, I was blessed enough to be able to return to teach at Harbor Light.  Now that my children are school age, I am back to full time teaching and could not be happier.

I love HLCS because… This place is not just a school it is a family.  I know that my own children are loved and well taken care of as they learn each day and the children God gives me as students become like my own.

Favorite Bible Verse: Psalm 139

Significant Life Experiences that led me to HLCS: I am from the Upper Peninsula of MI and moved to Petoskey when I was hired to teach 2nd-3rd grade in 1995 at HLCS. I taught 3rd grade until 2001, and then taught one more year of music in 2002 before stepping down to stay home with my children.

I love HLCS because... we are working hard to instill God's truth and right living in our children at home, and we are so blessed to have them in an environment that adds to and backs up the same things we are teaching at home.

Activities/Hobbies I enjoy: Some of my favorite things to do are read, be outside, go for walks or bike rides, play the piano, and spend time in the U.P. with family.
