Admissions Policy & Process

HLCS desires to have students who really want to be here. Students in grades 7–12 will be asked to sign a Statement of Student Cooperation form, indicating their desire to attend and to follow the policies of HLCS. At the same time, we must acknowledge that we cannot meet the educational needs of every child. We do offer an excellent Christian education but are not always able to accommodate students with special needs.

Every family who wishes to attend HLCS must complete the following steps:
  1. Before starting the application process we ask that both parents and students grades 7-12, carefully read the HLCS handbook and prayerfully consider whether or not this is the school where you would like to attend. We also encourage you to visit and tour our school.
  2. Complete the Application form and return it to the school office.
  3. Complete the Pastoral-Church Recommendation form and submit it prior to the interview with the Administrator.
  4. Schedule an appointment for an interview with the Administrator. All custodial parents and 7th–12th grade students are required to be at the interview.
  5. A standardized assessment will usually be given to determine, as nearly as possible, how a child is performing academically in comparison with other students at HLCS. Readiness–6th grade will receive individualized testing. Students in 7th–12th grades will be assessed in reading and math.

When all of the above is completed favorably, then:

  1. The parent(s) must sign a Release of Records that will be sent to the previous school district, where applicable. All school records will be transferred to HLCS.
